Michael Piazza Memorial

I made the flowerbox memorial in 2006, the year of Michael’s passing. I had configured the memorials as vessels to contain the dirt from the Earth, maybe soil which lay underneath the path of the individual. I always planted the material that best described the person honored. Succulents worked well as I always felt Michael could hold water. The vintage air gauge represented our challenging road trips to St. Louis and a small paperback by Elridge Cleaver ‘Soul on Ice’ was at the bottom of the box. A book he gave me years earlier. The stencil marked the day of his death.
